Literacy learning for life

Literacy is a foundational skill for lifelong learning. It underpins the acquisition of more complex skills like critical and creative thinking, and supports students to understand and engage with the world around them.

The Literacy and Numeracy Strategy (Phase 2) is the Department’s plan to improve literacy outcomes for students in Victoria. It prioritises literacy as a focus for all schools, and provides the resources and support teachers and school leaders need to make a difference in each classroom.

Given this is high priority work for schools we hope you will consider some Bastow professional learning options to drive a sustainable whole-school approach to literacy improvement and support a school culture where literacy learning thrives.
