On Tuesday the 17 October we gathered in Melbourne for the 2023 Graduation of our Rural Youth Ambassadors. This group of wonderful young people have been a credit to themselves, their schools and their community.
Our Graduation took place at the Radisson on Flagstaff, and we would like to thank their amazing team for hosting us and providing a great venue and graduation meal.
During the Graduation, our Ambassadors spent time reflecting on this year’s journey and their work with The Department of Education, Universities, Local Politicians and other community organisations. Thank you to our special guests from schools and the Department who attended our Graduation ceremony.
We were delighted to welcome three young people who have recently been involved with the Victorian Youth Parliament for a Q and A session with our Ambassadors. Julia, Kano and Angelo graciously gave up their time to share their wisdom and experiences. The messages of inclusion, equity and leadership were discussed in great detail by our panel. Our 2023 Ambassadors were also able to explore ideas around Youth Voice, Agency and Advocacy, something they have all gained an immense amount of experience in during the program.
“My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the Rural Youth Ambassador program and we are very grateful she had the opportunity to meet and engage with other young people from different areas. Her confidence grew from the experience. She often spoke proudly of her public speaking and the support she gained from her RYA peers. The RYA program gives young rural students the chance to expand their social connections in a positive environment. It allows young people to express their opinions and listen to others. The RYA program increases and values their contribution as future citizens.”
CEP is so very proud of this group of young people and we know an exciting future awaits them. We wish them all the very best and can’t wait to see them all again soon.
