IMG_8243For the greater part of a decade, CEP have been providing an annual overseas study tour opportunity for educational leaders within rural and remote communities.

Each year, a select number of people (usually limited to between 10 and 15 people) embark on this great opportunity, keen to experience and explore some of the leading education provision approaches occurring internationally. Participants are involved in a range of pre-tour activities and online discussions and upon their return, present their learnings gained.

Country Education Partnership will once again offer an Education Leaders Benchmark to the United Kingdom to explore how education communities (especially rural communities) have developed strategies and approaches to improve student learning opportunities and outcomes for their children and young people

Many education leaders who have participated in this tour in the past indicate that the experiences and learnings they gained have provided extremely valuable information and approaches that they have since implemented within their own learning communities resulting in improved teaching and learning.

  • What really makes a difference for student learning and how does this occur?
  • How does collaborative practices within and across education settings support the development of this culture?
  • What role does creative thinking play in establishing a culture of improvement?

The tour will involve a range of learning opportunities and experiences over the two weeks including:

  • IMG_1394visits to education organisations and learning alliances that have developed approaches that have improved education provision for their students;
  • participate in education conferences and forums;
  • being involved in a range of discussion forums with key education leaders such as John West Burnham, Maggie Farrar, Steve Munby and Sir John Jones.

Education Leaders Benchmark Tour to America

Venue: USA and Canada.
Who For: Rural Education Leaders; Rural Educators; Rural Early Years Services; Education Sectors; Key Stakeholders interested in Rural Education; Rural Communities; and Rural Young People.

This year, CEP will offer an overseas tour to the USA and Canada focused on building the education leadership capacity across rural and remote learning communities.

The tour will involve a group of up to 25 rural and remote education leaders and will focus on key areas of:

  • strategies and approaches that have resulted in improved education provision and student outcomes;
  • collaborative practice to improve learning outcomes;
  • the use of digital learning to enhance and improve learning within rural and remote communities
  • school community partnerships
  • etc

The tour will involve a combination of visits to schools, involvement in the international QUEST conference (hosted by Michael Fullan and Andy Hargreaves) based in Toronto, and meetings/forums with key people involved in education improvement and development.
