eKids science was developed by CEP to support rural schools in developing and providing science programs within a digital learning approach.

Over 100 grade five and six students have just begun an exciting online learning project focusing on science. These students will be involved in a range of science activities including wind, electrostatics; gravity; feral animals; living environments; human body and the like.

They come from rural towns such as Loch Sport, Seaspray, Wycheproof, Boort, Elphinstone, Beeac, Wooragee, and Ultima.

Elphinstone Primary School

Teachers within these rural schools have developed learning activities that students from across all the schools participate in through an “anytime – anywhere” environment. Students are also linked in with people with expertise to enrich their learnings – eg scienceworks, Bugs Blitz and the like.  This is all done through elluminate sessions and other similar communication technologies.

An Experiment at Ultima Primary School

In the near future, similar programs will be developed in areas such as Technology through Energy Breakthrough; Extension Learning for Upper Primary; VCE units.

I have a couple of upper primary students that could benefit from this sort of work. I’m interested to see how we could participate
