Congratulations to Corryong College’s Grade 6 teacher, Kendall Heycox, on winning the Victorian Outstanding Early Career Primary Teacher Award which recognises effective and innovative teachers in their first 5 years of teaching.

The criteria for this prestigious award includes demonstrated excellence in teaching practices at Victorian government primary schools and a significant contribution to improving student learning and wellbeing.

After completing her schooling at Corryong College, Kendall pursued a career in education and commenced working at Corryong College in 2022. Kendall is an exceptional educator and has achieved remarkable results in student outcomes, engagement, and well-being by employing data-driven, evidence-based methods, setting high expectations and a commitment to inclusivity and collaboration.

She extends her collaboration beyond the classroom by coordinating school productions, engaging with the community, and introducing waste management reforms. Kendall’s positive and purposeful relationships with students, teachers, parents, and the community align with the Department of Education’s values. She ensures transparency in educational objectives, values colleagues’ expertise, and maintains strong partnerships with parents and carers.

Her calm and conscientious approach to all aspects of her work as a teacher and her willingness to shoulder responsibility while capably implementing quality learning, has been a great support to our small school community.

Well done Kendall.
