Rural Learning Summit – 2011

Each year CEP hosts a summit to explore an issue relevant to rural education.

This year the Summit will focus on the theme of:

“Retention and Engagement of rural young people in Learning”.

The Summit will be held at Glenormiston College near Terang on Friday, 12th August.

The Summit will provide a real opportunity for people interested in this area from rural communities to explore, discuss and identify future approaches across areas such as:

  • engagement of rural young people in learning
  • retention of rural young people in education and training
  • transition from school to further education or training.

The Summit will involve presentations from key presenters, hear of research undertaken in these areas, and explore good practice.

Representation will be encouraged from organizations and individuals who have a strong knowledge of rural education including:

  • the school sector
  • higher education and training sectors
  • early years sector
  • local government
  • employers
  • research organisations
  • youth organisations and education sectors

To ensure that quality discussion occurs numbers will be limited to approximately 80 participants.
