A key aspect of CEPs Rural Educators Network is the provision of ongoing professional development for those involved in providing learning within rural communities.
This professional development covers a range of activities including:
- conferences on specific rural education issues
- forums and seminars on specific issues relevant to rural education
- leadership development programs
- overseas and interstate educational tours.
Specific Professional Development Initiatives for 2011:
1 Future Rural Leaders Forum:
A program aimed at supporting emerging leaders within rural education communities. CEP facilitates a number of forums focused on providing quality learning in rural communities into the future. During 2011, CEP facilitated a forum with Stephen Heppell exploring learning spaces and approaches to engage todays young people.
An online network as been developed for around 70 future rural leaders to provide them with the opportunity to share information, participate in discussion forums and have access to information, research and presentations.
2. Rural Learning Summit:
CEP facilitates an annual summit for people to explore a key education issue impacting on rural education. In 2011, the forum has a focus on engaging and retaining young people in education. The forum will be held on 12th August and an initial flier is available by clicking on the link Learning Summit Flier
3. Overseas Tour:
CEP facilitates an annual education tour to visit countries who provide quality learning in rural communities. In 2011, CEP is facilitating a tour to Scandinavia, Scotland and the UK. A group of 12 rural education leaders will be involved in the tour during Term III.
As part of the tour, the group will be uploading information on the CEP website to share their experiences, showcase the schools they have visited, and upload fantastic resources. Keep an eye on the front page of the CEP website.
4. 0-18 Learning:
CEP facilitates a number of conference and forums for education settings who provide learning across the primary/secondary spectrum.
