Rural New Graduates Network

The Country Eduction Project has established a Network for New Graduates who are employed within rural schools throughout Victoria. This network provides a fantastic opportunity for new graduates to link with other new graduates through an online forum, and attend a range of professional development activities that will be offered throughout the year.

Are you a Graduate Teacher or do you have Graduate Teachers in your school? Have you or they joined our Rural Graduate Network?

A career in education is a very rewarding profession. However, the work is demanding and expectations are high. Starting out in a new school, preparing for lessons and building that working relationship with students, teachers and the wider school community takes time, effort and support. Add to that, some of the remote locations of Victoria’s rural schools and graduates can often feel alone and un-prepared.

The online Rural Graduate Support Forum is a CEP initiative that supports new teachers as they settle into their new career. Being a part of this newtork will provide access to a range of resources including mentors and an induction process.

The network currently consists of 65 teachers, from across Victoria, who are working in a number of different situations, including primary and secondary classrooms. Members have access to each other and a number of mentor teachers who have been in the job for a number of years. Including the world renowned Professor Stephen Heppell.

The Network is a great place to discuss education and get access to:

  • curriculum resources,
  • reporting advice and comment banks,
  • valuable support from peers and mentors,
  • professional development opportunities,
  • VIT registration support, and much more.

Being a member of the network comes with the expectation of participation and support for each other. “The best thing about the Network is the access to others in the same situation.”
