Check these great professional development opportunities coming up during 2011 focusing on rural education. The Country Education Project is working with a number of organisations and individuals to put together a series of exciting conferences and forums for principals, education leaders, staff and interested people.
Throughout the year there will be a number of professional development opportunities specifically designed for people involved in rural education – so put them in your diary now or register your interest by adding a comment in the “Reply” area at the bottom of this article.
0-18 Years Learning
A professional development forum for education leaders involved in P-12; K-12; and P-10 education settings as well as those clusters who are exploring the development of a 0-18 learning approach across their rural cluster.
The forum will occur in the later part of Term II and will provide a full days program of presentations and discussion exploring the general them of
“Seizing the Potential of a 0-18 Learning: Personalising Learning ”.
The program will have a key presentation to challenge our thinking and reflect on our current approaches in providing high quality learning that caters for the needs and interests of individual learners within such settings. The forum will also provide numerous opportunities for people to share their experiences, explore current innovative programs and consider challenges and opportunities together.
Small Schools Conference
CEP has reintroduced the idea of providing an opportunity for small schools from across the state to be involved in a two day conference later in Term III.
With the theme:
“Small Schools on a Large Scale: Innovate and Flourish”
the conference will provide an opportunity for principals, education leaders and staff from rural primary, secondary and P-12 small schools to explore how they can provide innovative learning for students within their communities. It will also provide an opportunity to explore some of the creative ways in which small rural schools are developing initiatives to enhance the learning opportunities and outcomes for their students.
Rural New Graduate Forum
For all the new graduates throughout rural Victoria – this is a great opportunity for you to come together with other rural new graduates in a range of professional development activities.
Come and hear some great presentations and be involved in a range of group discussions with other rural new graduates related to building your capacity as a teacher in a rural community.
The forum will be held in early Term III.
Rural Learning Summit 2012
CEP is hosting its annual Rural Learning Summit within the North East of Victoria.
The Summit will be held on Friday, 17th August.
The theme of the Summit this year is
“Clustering: Collaborating through Learning Communities”.
The Summit will provide the opportunity for people interested in rural education from across the state to explore this issue in great depth.
This Summit is limited to 70 participants to promote this in depth conversation and consider of the theme within a rural context, especially as it relates to enhancing the opportunities and outcomes of rural young people.
