Chair’s Report, February 2012

Welcome to Bush Voices 1st edition for 2012.  A new school year means fresh faces returning, and new faces of students, staff and parents linking into our rural learning communities for the first time.

What impressions meet them about the community of learners they are now going to be connected to? For many of our small rural schools it means introducing them to a wider context of where this learning takes shape.  The collaborative partnerships of learning that are beginning to emerge throughout our rural regions allows for wider opportunities of networks / clusters to plan, develop and deliver teaching and learning across regional boundaries.

The Baillieu Myer rural Education Award is being offered this year to the work that clusters and collegiate leadership has on enhancing and building the learning provision throughout rural Victoria.

In this edition of Bush Voices we are reporting on some of the varied collegiate programs and activities that are currently operating throughout our learning communities. The shared talent, skills and capacity of our schools is far more valuable when it is openly shared across our communities, enabling others to build on the experiences of others and strengthen the outcomes for all.

The question that should drive our extended capacity to work collectively in clusters and collegiate groups is “How will this benefit the students in their learning?”

We look forward to working with you in the year ahead and supporting our rural communities of learning throughout Victoria.
