Rural Learning Summits

The Country Education Project Inc hosts an annual rural learning summit to explore issues and ideas relevant to rural learning.

These summits are held in a rural community and brings people involved in, or interested in, rural education. Each year a key focus area is identified for consideration, discussion and analysis. At the conclusion of each summit, a report is developed and circulated.

2011 Rural Learning Summit

ENGAGING RURAL YOUTH IN LEARNING

Analysis, Learning, Listening and Exploring

 

The summit will look at ways we can improve engagement and retention of young people in rural Victoria

The Summit will involve presentations by key personnel, presentation by rural young people, outline of case studies and discussions focused on the summit theme.

The Hon. Peter Hall, Minister for Higher Education and Skill and Minister responsible for the teaching profession will be attending the summit.

Focus Areas

  • Analysis of the trends in retention
  • Learning from a program that works:  Rumbulara
  • Listening to young people – presentations and a panel discussion with the newly created CEP Rural Youth Ambassadors.  Facilitated by Erin Young
  • Exploring future and innovative practical workable solutions for government, schools and Country Education Project

2010 Rural Learning Summit

In 2010, the Summit focused on the future of rural learning within Victoria. A number of people from education, local government, universities, philanthropic organisations and education sectors participated in a number of discussions exploring the challenges facing rural learning and exploring strategies for providing learning into the future.

The then Minister for Education, Skills and Workforce Development, Ms Bronwyn Pike attended the summit where she launched the Rural Education Framework – Consultation Paper.

The presentation by Mike Stephens, the overall presentation for the Summit, the Discussion Paper developed by CEP focusing on supporting rural education into the future and the Rural Education Framework Consultation Paper are available below:

    Good site. I have used the notes from Mike Stephens in a few conversations and people have been very interested in the points raised. Hope this is the right place to post such a comment.
