Rural School Council Project

Take the rural school council survey

The Country Education Project Inc is currently undertaking an extensive survey of rural school councils throughout Victoria as part of a project supported by DEECD.

The links to the survey are listed below:

  1. Click here for rural school councillors survey and
  2. Click here for rural Principals survey

The Project has been commissioned by DEECD to:

  1. identify the school governance issues affecting rural communities within rural Victoria
  2. explore possible governance approaches to support rural education into the future
  3. develop specific rural resource materials to support people involved in rural school councils.

A key action in this process  is the collection of information and ideas from current rural school councillors. Two online surveys have been developed:

  1. One for rural school councillors and
  2. One for rural school Principals

We are requesting that Principals complete the Principal survey which seeks some basic school and school council information and data. They then have the option to also complete the school council member survey. The Principal will be very important in raising awareness about the survey and encouraging its completion. This may mean assisting in making online facilities available to councillors at the school.

It is important for Principals to know and then to stress to school councillors that all information gathered will be treated confidentially. Individual councillors and individual schools will not be identified in any use made of the gathered information.

The responses will be used to work with a group of “pilot school communities” to explore and develop governance options for rural schools into the future. The pilot school will then be invited to undertake a trial of agreed models. A report will be developed from this work and available to all rural school councils. Advice will also be provided to DEECD from this project.

The link did not work and then I noticed that it has a comma instead of ‘full stop’

As Principal of Tempy Primary School, I have forwarded your link to my school council members, but it is now the end of February and I cannot see the link – can you circulate a reminder when it becomes live?
