The CEP annual general meeting took place on Thursday 25 March 2010 in Melbourne with around 50 people from all education sectors and geographical locations across the state. The event was chaired by Wendy Graham, who has been invited to chair the organisation for another two years.
In attendance was patron Mr Baillieu Myer, patron of CEP Inc, past directors and chairs of CEP Inc, represetiatves from all education sectors, rural school communities and key stakeholders.
The annual meeting agreed to change its constitution to allow all rural education organisations to become members instead of only schools. This reflects changes in government policy to 0-18 years learning, as well as CEP’s work in supporting 0-18 year learning within rural communities.
The meeting saw a new committee of management elected for 2010 with Wendy being chair, Patricia Nunan from Heywood as deputy chair, Mark McLay from St Arnaud as secretary, Philip Scambler from Birchip as treasurer and general committee members being Rod Clarke from Seaspray, Julie King from Eskdale, Tony Hand from Sea Lake, Robert Boucher from Swifts Creek, Denise Frantz from Kerang, Brad Madden from East Loddon and Jane Boyle from Camperdown.
CEP Inc bestowed a Life Membership upon Al Balfour from East Gippsland. Al has had a long involvement with CEP being there at the beginning and supporting its role at a local and state level.
The Baillieu Myer Rural Education Award was also announced for 2010. The award was presented to Mr. Gary Schultz from the Wimmera region – nominated by Dimboola Secondary College. Anne Mirtschin, the recipient of the inaugural award in 2009 gave a presentation about how she used the scholarship for professional development over the past 12 months.
